WHAT WE BELIEVE

We are unashamed to follow the whole truth of biblical Christianity and evangelical doctrine.  We are affiliated to the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC) and subscribe to its basis of faith.  We also express our unity with local churches through the Dunstable Fellowship of Evangelical Churches (DFEC).

FIEC Basis of Faith

The Lord Jesus Christ
The deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, before, during and after His incarnation; His eternal Sonship; His virgin birth; His real and perfect manhood; the authority of His teaching, and the infallibility of all His utterances; His work of atonement for sinners by His vicarious sufferings and death; His bodily resurrection and His ascension into Heaven; and His present priestly intercession for His people at the right hand of the Father.

God
The unity of the Godhead and the divine co-equality of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; the Sovereignty of God in Creation, Providence and Redemption.

The Bible
The full inspiration of the Holy Scriptures; their authority and sufficiency as not only containing, but being in themselves the Word of God.

Sin
The utter sinfulness of the human heart in consequence of the fall and the necessity for regeneration by the Holy Spirit.

Salvation
The justification of the sinner, not by works, but by the grace of God, through faith, in the atoning work and merits of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Second Coming
The personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ in glory.

The Future
The resurrection of the body; the judgement of the world by the Lord Jesus Christ; the eternal blessedness of the righteous, and the eternal punishment of the wicked.

Baptism & The Lord's Supper
The ordinances of Baptism and the Lord's Supper as instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ, but Baptism conveys no regenerating grace and is administered by immersion to those alone who have professed faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, neither is the Lord's Supper a sacrifice for sin, nor is there any change in the substance of the bread and wine.

2 WAYS TO LIVE

Here is a summary of what we believe about the gospel of Jesus Christ:

1. God is the loving creator of the world. He made us rulers of the world under him. (Rev 4.11)

2. But we all reject God as ruler—by trying to run our lives without him. But we fail (Rom 3.10-12)

3. God will not let us rebel forever—his punishment is judgment and death (Heb 9.27)

4. Out of love, God sent his Son into the world. Jesus always lived under God’s rule. Yet by dying in our place he took our punishment and brought forgiveness. (I Pet 3.18)

5. God raised Jesus to life as the ruler of the world. Jesus has conquered death, gives new life, and will return to judge (I Peter 1.3)

6. The two ways to live: (A) Our way, which leads to condemnation and death, or (B) God’s way, leading to forgiveness and life (John 3.36)
